Shay McKelvey is an elite fitness expert and gives her opinion on FitPass partner, The Training Club. Her nursing background gives her a solid medical perspective on fitness, while her degree in exercise physiology and experience as a fitness trainer make her an authority on conditioning the body. That's why, when Shay talks about how she maximizes her workouts, readers of her popular San Diego blog, BFit San Diego, take it to heart. Recently, Shay blogged about a series of hardcore workouts at Carmel Valleys fitness hub, The Training Club.
Shay's first visit featured a heart pumping full body workout in the Gravity Room. She describes the state-of-the-art Gravity machines as "a cross between a Pilates machine and the Total Gym that Chuck Morris demonstrates on cheesy channels late at night." In the circuit class she went from station to station to perform a variety of exercises designed to sculpt every major muscle group while she simultaneously engaged her abdominal muscles to stabilize herself on the glide board. Afterward, she seemed pleasantly surprised by the intensity of the workout, remarking, "This is a fun, high energy workout and I have no doubt I’ll be feeling it in the morning!"
The very word brings us back to those last days of school, counting down the minutes to freedom.
